Overview

Discover Bucharest in a small group with a guide who has lived in the city for 28 years. Instead of rushing from one monument to the next, this tour combines the main landmarks with personal stories, unusual historical details and hidden places that many visitors overlook.

Groups are kept to a maximum of 10 people, making it easier to ask questions, interact with the guide and enjoy a more relaxed experience. Along the way, you may discover independent bookstores, local restaurants, lively bars, quiet courtyards and cafés worth returning to after the tour.

Tour Itinerary

Insider story

I’ll show you why the modern Novotel still carries the façade of Bucharest’s former National Theatre and share the story of how this unusual reconstruction keeps the memory of a building lost during the Second World War alive.

20 min

Atheneum

History of the Atheneum and the adjacent Athenee Palace Hotel, most luxurious hotel in Bucharest since it was built.

10 min

Carol I Library

Hear the details about this building and what is the history of the statue, both of the rider and of the horse.

10 min

Royal Palace

The story of the royal palace, where did the king actually live, in fact and why is everything around Calea Victoriei centered around the palace.

20 min

Humanitas Library + Secret Place

We will see a nice little bookstore and 2 other interesting places that for now will remain a secret.

10 min

Hotel Continental + Old National Theatre

See how Calea Victoriei got its name and why Hotel Continental is so special. Also have a look at Novotel, maybe one of the most unusual luxury hotels on Calea Victoriei.

10 min

Phone Palace + Hidden Spot

Take a look at the first sky scraper we had in Bucharest, in a period in which we tried to copy the skyscraper style of NY.
