Hanging Out in Cartagena / Walking in Cartagena
The tour starts at the Clock Tower, our meeting point next to the statue of Pedro de Heredia. We will visit Plaza de los Coches, Plaza de la Aduana, San Pedro Claver, Plaza Bolívar, Portal de las Reinas, Plaza Santo Domingo, the Cathedral and Plaza de la Proclamación. We finish in Getsemaní, passing Plaza de la Trinidad, its alleys and Plaza del Pozo, discovering local history, culture and traditions.
Clock Tower - meeting point
The Clock Tower is one of Cartagena de Indias' most iconic landmarks and will be our official meeting point. We will meet next to the statue of Pedro de Heredia, founder of the city, to begin a walking experience through the Historic Center. From here we will start discovering the history, architecture, culture and traditions that make Cartagena unique.
Customs Square
Plaza de la Aduana is one of the most important historic spaces in Cartagena's Historic Center. During the tour we will learn about its link to trade and port activity in colonial times while observing architecture that preserves the city's historic character. I will share stories and local details that help explain how this place contributed to Cartagena's economic and social development.
San Pedro Claver Church and Square
San Pedro Claver Square and Church are among the most representative places in Cartagena's Historic Center. At this stop we will learn about San Pedro Claver, his work with enslaved people arriving at the port, and the importance of this site in the city's memory. We will also observe the church's colonial architecture and discuss African influence on Cartagena's traditions, culture and identity.
Simón Bolívar Square
Plaza Simón Bolívar is one of the most important historic spaces in Cartagena's Historic Center. During this stop we will learn about its transformation over time and its connection to the city's political and social events. Surrounded by emblematic buildings, we will talk about the colonial era, the independence process and Cartagena's importance in Colombia's history, while noticing details of architecture and daily life.
Santo Domingo Church and Square
Santo Domingo Church and Square form one of Cartagena's most emblematic historic ensembles. At this stop we will learn about the history of the former convent and the church's importance in the city's religious tradition.
