Tour Itinerary
Meet at the "Libreria Ancora Store" for check in
Before heading into the security line together, the group meets at the Libreria Ancora store for chec-in.
Saint Peter’s Square and Bernini's Colonnade
While heading through the security check, introduction to the Vatican City State and Saint Peter's Square.
Michelangelo’s La Pietà
Once inside the Basilica we’ll see Michelangelo’s Pietà, a marble sculpture of Mary holding the body of Christ, known for its detail and realism.
Bernini’s Baldachin
Bernini’s Baldachin, designed with ornate Baroque detail and spiral columns, marks the location of Saint Peter’s tomb.
Various important tombs and details inside the Basilica
Tombs of various popes, including Pope Gregory the Great and Pope John Paul II, located within the basilica as important burial and memorial sites.
The Altar and Chair of St. Peter
The Chair of St. Peter, a monumental bronze throne by Bernini enclosing a wooden relic and symbolizing papal authority, set beneath a stained glass window of the Holy Spirit that fills the apse with light.
Saint Peter’s Obelisk
Back outside the basilica to finish at St. Peter’s Obelisk, an ancient Egyptian monument set in the center of St. Peter’s Square, marking a historic focal point of the Vatican.
