Free Tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) & Giza

At the main entrance, we will give a brief introduction to the Grand Egyptian Museum and learn about the history of its construction, from the initial idea of the project to the creation of this impressive space dedicated to the heritage of ancient Egypt. We will also talk about its architecture, its location facing the Pyramids of Giza, and the objective of bringing together and preserving one of the most important Egyptian archaeological collections in the world.

As our second stop, we will encounter the impressive colossal statue of Ramses II, one of the most powerful pharaohs of ancient Egypt. We will briefly learn about his history, the meaning of his symbols, and how this monumental sculpture represents the power and authority of the pharaoh. We will also discuss some details of the statue that help us better understand the greatness of the reign of Ramses II.

As our third stop, we will walk through the Grand Staircase of the Grand Egyptian Museum, a monumental space where large statues, columns, and architectural elements from ancient Egypt are displayed. During the tour, we will learn the meaning of some of these pieces and how they reflect the power, religion, and architecture of the pharaohs.

The main part of our visit will be the tour through the 12 gallery rooms of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Here we will discover the most important pieces in the collection, following the evolution of Egyptian civilization from its earliest periods to the great ages of the pharaohs. We will explain the most outstanding pieces, their stories, and the details that help us better understand the life, beliefs, art, and power of ancient Egypt.

One of the most anticipated parts of the tour will be the explanation of the Tutankhamun collection. We will learn about the history of the young pharaoh, the discovery of his tomb, and the meaning of some of the objects that were part of his funerary trousseau.
